NoCal July 4th

We rented a house on the Trinity River directly between Eureka and Redding in Northern California for the week of the 4th. The trip pushed our limits for driving in a day (10 hours down, 14 hours back with lots of breaks), but the warm weather and out-of-state adventure made it well worth the automotive tribulations. Highlights were the 4th of July Parade in Weaverville (also known, to us, as Small Town, U.S.A.), afternoons on our private riverside beach, evenings on the back deck, a welcome visit from Rasa and Craig, brunch with Angie in Arcata and hiking in the Redwoods on the way home.

Our private river beach was the place to be during the late afternoon heat of the day.
